After putting up a fight for the first three games of the season series, the Islanders finally phoned one in against the Caps. Although they've been playing well lately and are having thoughts of a playoff spot, the Isles were outmanned from the get-go on this one. Explosive scoring has been the rule during the six (now seven) game winning streak and the Caps blew this one open with a triplet late in the first period. Which was pretty much game over.
The new line combinations are providing scoring from every angle - seven goals scored and zero points from OV and Green is not a comforting scenario for anyone trying to match up lines against the Caps.
A month ago, Theo leaving the game with a hip flexor might have been borderline good new as it would help clear up a logjam for a week or so. Now an absence beyond a week might mean that we get to Braden Holtby in action.
